Abstract Muhammad Asif Mohseni, a Shia religious authority and an Afghan political activist, has recently published the second printing of his Al-Mu’jam al-ahadith al-mu’tabarah in 8 volumes. A new arrangement has been adopted regarding the jurisprudential and non-jurisprudential chapters of the book, which indicates the author’s stance toward the status of reason and science as well as the position of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence and the study of narrators. Besides, this special arrangement reveals the present author’s political opinion about the establishment of an Islamic state. This book includes more than 11,000 traditions with valid chains (authentic, reliable, and authoritative). These valid traditions have been selected from 26 classic Shia tradition books whose genuine manuscripts have been used by Allameh Majlesi. For instance, examination of the traditions from the book al- Iʿtikāf shows that the present author has truly narrated the most authentic traditions. In addition to collecting the valid traditions, Mohseni has provided narrator descriptions and contextual study of the traditions for a large number of traditions.
