Abstract
One of the most important topics in the field of jurisprudence and interpretation of the Holy Quran is freedom of religion. One of the four following presumed relationships is established between verses of Saif and denial of duress: 1- verses of Saif abrogate verses of denial of duress. 2- Opposite of the first. 3- verses of Saif are concerning apparent duress and verses of denial of duress are concerning inward duress. 4- verses of Saif restrict verses of denial of duress. Because of Verse 29 of surah At-Taubah which is the reason of their freedom of religion on the condition of paying jizya (tax) , the first assumption is impossible; because with this assumption it must be submitted that verses of Saif after being abrogators have been abrogated again by this verse; because verse of Saif has been revealed between verses of denial of duress and verse 29 of surah At-Taubah which conforming each other and this assumption is unacceptable. The second assumption requires priority (precedence) of abrogator over the abrogated which its non-occurrence and even its religious impossibility is obvious. In this study, the authenticity of the recent case by new and clear approach and proofs, has been argued.
